<dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">Epilepsy is a prevalent neurological disorder that can be debilitating. The definition of this condition is based on electroencephalographic criteria. Electroencephalography (EEG) is therefore an essential diagnostic tool for this disorder. In the context of the numerous factors that contribute to the development of epilepsy, the decision was taken to direct the study towards focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) and stroke as specific areas of interest. To this end, a computational model was employed, namely eCOALIA, to simulate EEGs from both healthy participants and patients with epilepsy resulting from FCD or stroke. These distinct simulations, conducted during resting-state, in physiological or pathological contexts, facilitated the use of the model to investigate the neurobiological alterations involved and their location within the cerebral cortex. In order to ensure that the simulations were as close as possible to the participants' actual EEGs, methods for comparing EEGs by calculating similarity indices were also developed. Finally, we have automated part of the simulations in order to facilitate the implementation of this model in clinical practice in the future. The present work focuses on the modelling of EEGs with a high degree of similarity to real EEGs, with a view to simulating virtual "twins". This approach enables a personalised understanding of the disease and its management at an individual level.</dcterms:abstract>
