     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">Tous les salariés sont susceptibles d’être confrontés à des événements de vie personnelle difficiles (ex : deuil, séparation, etc.) pouvant influencer leur activité voire leur carrière. Les salariés feront vraisemblablement de plus en plus face à certains de ces événements (ex : aide d’un proche, maladie chronique). Peu d’études s’intéressent aux problématiques que ces événements soulèvent au niveau managérial. Dans cette thèse CIFRE, à travers le cas de la grande entreprise industrielle Enedis, nous étudions comment les managers de proximité peuvent accompagner les salariés traversant ces événements. Nous mobilisons une approche par les ressources, basée essentiellement sur la théorie de la Conservation des ressources (Hobfoll, 1989). Notre analyse s’appuie sur plus de 90 entretiens recueillis auprès de managers, parties prenantes de l’entreprise et salariés ; mais aussi sur trois ans d’observation participante et l’accès à la documentation interne. Notre étude contribue, selon nous, à décrire, en contexte, l’adaptation dont doivent faire preuve les managers face aux contraintes posées par les événements de vie des salariés. Les limites de l’action des managers soulèvent l’enjeu de leur coopération avec les parties prenantes participant à la politique de maintien et retour en emploi. Finalement, certaines conditions seraient à réunir pour que les managers puissent mettre en oeuvre une écoute préventive : notamment, la sanctuarisation de temps de proximité auprès des salariés, la présence d’espaces de confidentialité, l’ouverture de la culture managériale sur les difficultés personnelles.</dcterms:abstract>
     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">All employees can be confronted with adverse private life events (e.g., bereavement, break-up, etc.) likely to influence their professional activity, even their career. Employees will probably face more and more some events (e.g., caregiving, chronic disease). Few studies address issues raised by these events in terms of management. In this CIFRE thesis, through the case of the large industrial company Enedis, we are studying the way front-line managers can support employees going through adverse private life events. We draw on a resources-based approach, mostly built on Conservation of Resources Theory (Hobfoll, 1989). Our analysis relies on more than 90 interviews with managers, company stakeholders and employees, but also on three years of participant observation and on access to internal documentation. In our view, this study contributes to describing, in a contextualized way, how managers must adapt to face demands related to employees’ life events. The limits of managers’ action raise the issue of cooperation between them and stakeholders participating in job retention and return-to-work policy.  Eventually, some conditions would have to be met to enable managers to implement preventive listening, such as : safeguarding time with employees, having confidential space available, opening managerial culture to personal difficulties.</dcterms:abstract>
