     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">Cette thèse explore l’optimisation conjointe de l’intelligence artificielle embarquée et de la connectivité cellulaire pour les drones autonomes opérant en environnement réel. À l’intersection des réseaux 4G/5G, de l’IA de fondation (LLMs multimodaux) et de l’embarqué, elle propose des architectures hybrides alliant traitements locaux, edge et cloud, capables de s’adapter dynamiquement aux conditions réseau rencontrées en vol. Trois axes structurent ce travail. Le premier étudie les stratégies d’orchestration des modèles IA embarqués pour des tâches de perception visuelle, comparant architectures enchaînées et modèles composites. Le second propose une modélisation empirique de la connectivité cellulaire en vol, intégrant un score multi-opérateur embarquable permettant de prédire la qualité du lien. Le troisième axe évalue différents scénarios d’inférence (local, edge, cloud) dans un cas d’usage critique — la détection de départs de feu — en tenant compte des contraintes de latence, d’énergie, et de robustesse. Les résultats obtenus démontrent l’intérêt de coupler modélisation réseau et intelligence artificielle pour améliorer la résilience, la performance et l’autonomie des drones intelligents. La thèse met en lumière les compromis nécessaires entre précision, coût énergétique et stabilité du lien, et propose une approche de co-optimisation opérationnelle novatrice. Les contributions incluent plusieurs publications scientifiques et un brevet relatif à la gestion dynamique de la connectivité multi-opérateur.</dcterms:abstract>
     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">This thesis investigates the joint optimization of embedded artificial intelligence and cellular connectivity for autonomous drones operating in real-world environments. At the crossroads of 4G/5G networks, foundation models (multimodal LLMs), and embedded systems, it proposes hybrid architectures that combine onboard, edge, and cloud processing, dynamically adapting to network conditions encountered during flight.

The work is structured around three main axes. The first focuses on orchestrating embedded AI models for visual perception tasks, comparing chained architectures with composite (end-to-end) models. The second introduces an empirical modeling of in-flight cellular connectivity, including a deployable multi-operator score capable of predicting expected link quality. The third evaluates different inference scenarios (local, edge, cloud) in a critical use case — early wildfire detection — taking into account constraints such as latency, energy consumption, and robustness.

The results demonstrate the value of coupling network modeling and artificial intelligence to enhance the resilience, performance, and autonomy of intelligent drones. The thesis highlights the necessary trade-offs between accuracy, energy efficiency, and link stability, and proposes an innovative co-optimization framework. The contributions include several peer-reviewed publications and a patent related to dynamic multi-operator connectivity management.</dcterms:abstract>
