Le deuil engendré par le décès de ses patients a peut-être une influence sur le médecin. L’objectif de cette étude est d’analyser et repérer les conséquences éventuelles du deuil du médecin généraliste après le décès de son patient, tant sur le plan professionnel que personnel. Méthodes : Etude qualitative par entretiens semi-dirigés des médecins généralistes et analyse par théorisation ancrée. Résultats : Il existe des conséquences professionnelles et personnelles dans la période du deuil du médecin généraliste, tant sur le plan médico-technique avec une majoration des prescriptions, que sur le plan personnel avec une modification dans la relation de soin. Conclusion : Le stress du deuil du médecin généraliste après le décès de son patient engendre des modifications perceptibles dans la pratique du médecin. Des risques psychosociaux sont également déterminés. Les stratégies de coping misent en place par les médecins généralistes, efficients ou non, en sont la conséquence. Face aux enjeux économiques liés à la santé publique et à l’impact sur la santé du médecin lui-même, il est légitime de se poser la question de l’importance de prendre soin du praticien lui-même : Est-il en mesure de s’occuper de sa propre santé ? Dispose-t-il d’un médecin pour le soutenir ? Introduction : The general practitioner follows and supports their patients for many years. The grief caused by the death of their patients may have an influence on the doctor. The aim of this study is to analyze and identify the potential consequences of the general practitioner's grief after the death of a patient, both professionally and personally. Methods : Qualitative study through semi-structured interviews with general practitioners and analysis by grounded theory. Results : There are professional and personal consequences during the mourning period of the general practitioner, both in terms of medical-technical aspects with an increase in prescriptions, and in personal terms with a change in the caregiver-patient relationship. Conclusion : The stress of mourning experienced by the general practitioner after the death of a patient leads to noticeable changes in the physician's practice. Psychosocial risks are also identified. The coping strategies implemented by general practitioners, whether effective or not, are a direct consequence of this. Given the economic challenges related to public health and the impact on the health of the physician themselves, it is legitimate to question the importance of taking care of the practitioner: Are they able to take care of their own health? Do they have a doctor to support them?
