Objectifs : recueillir le vécu et les opinions de personnes ayant effectué une RISI via le réseau social Reddit pour mieux comprendre son importance dans la prise en charge de leur santé. Méthode : une étude qualitative par entretiens semi-dirigés a été menée auprès d’utilisateurs de Reddit ayant effectué une RISI sur une communauté francophone dédiée à la RISI. Résultats : la majeure partie des participants ont un avis favorable sur la RISI et les bénéfices qu’ils estimaient en retirer étaient multiples. Leurs habitudes personnelles sur la manière de mener cette RISI étaient peu changeantes. Reddit leur apportait certains éléments positifs pour la RISI qu’ils ne retrouvaient pas sur d’autres supports. La RISI pouvait intervenir de façon négative comme positive dans leur prise en charge par un professionnel de santé, et était presque toujours un sujet difficile à aborder. Conclusion : Bien que les patients considèrent la RISI comme une aide dans la prise en charge de leur santé, il est encore compliqué pour eux de l’intégrer à leur prise en charge par les professionnels de santé. D’autres études sont nécessaires pour aborder ce point, pour permettre que la RISI devienne une occasion pour médecins et patients de consolider leur confiance réciproque et leur collaboration au profit de la santé du patient. Context : online health information seeking (OHIS) is an increasing occurrence, in parallel with the increase of internet and social networks use. Objectives : gather the experience and opinions of people who performed OHIS on the social network Reddit, to better understand the importance of OHIS in their healthcare. Methods : a qualitative study using semi-directed interviews was conducted with Reddit users who performed OHIS on a french-speaking community dedicated to OHIS. Results : most of the participants had a favorable opinion about OHIS and the positive results they considered they got from it were diverse. Their personal habits about the way they conducted OHIS weren't much variable. Reddit brought them some positive OHIS elements they didn't get from other sources. OHIS could bring positive or negative consequences to the way health professionnals took care of them, and was almost always a difficult subject to approach. Conclusion : Although patients consider OHIS as helpful in their healthcare, it's still complicated for them to include it in their relationship with health professionnals. More studies are needed on this subject, to allow OHIS to become an opportunity for doctors and patients to strenghten their mutual confidence and their collaboration to profit to patients' health.
