     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">La stimulation électrique transcrânienne (tES, en anglais) est une technique de stimulation cérébrale non-invasive émergente de par sa capacité à améliorer les performances cognitives et l'intérêt de son application dans le cadre de maladies neurodégénératives. Les objectifs de la présente thèse étaient d'étudier les aspects numériques de la modélisation de la tES. En effet, la modélisation est une part importante de par la nécessité de prédire et doser la stimulation ainsi que pour améliorer sa précision. La première étude menée a démontré la limite de l'approximation quasi-statique à partir du MHz. Aussi, l'erreur introduite en négligeant les propriétés capacitives des tissus est importante, allant jusqu'à 20 % à 10 Hz au niveau de la zone ciblée. Dans un second temps, il a été montré une forte variabilité due à celle sur les valeurs des propriétés diélectriques, ainsi qu'une relation entre la forme des gyri et la variation de champ électrique. Finalement, la relation de dépendance entre la fréquence de stimulation et l’entraînement cellulaire d'une large variété de type de neurones a été étudiée par l'utilisation de modèles morpho-réalistiques et simplifiés. Les résultats soulignent la préférence des cellules excitatrices pour les fréquences de stimulation proches de leur activité intrinsèque alors que les cellules inhibitrices tendent à être entraînées pour une fréquence de stimulation plus haute (&gt; 40 Hz).</dcterms:abstract>
     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">Transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) emerges as a promising non-invasive brain stimulation technique that enables the relief of neurological disorders and improves cognitive performance. The objectives of the present work were to investigate the numerical aspects of this method, as numerical modeling is required to predict and design tES protocols for accurate stimulation delivery. The first study aimed to assess the accuracy of ubiquitous physical assumptions. The limit of applicability of the quasi-static approximation in tES modeling was found to be in the MHz range. The capacitive effects of tissues also induced relatively high errors at low frequencies, with an error up to 20 % at 10 Hz at the stimulation target. Secondly, we studied anatomical and electrical variability impact on tES-induced electric fields using a numerical approach, demonstrating the significance of electrical properties' variability and establishing a relationship between the electric field distribution and the shapes of gyri. Finally, we examined the frequency-dependent entrainment response of a wide variety of morphologically realistic neurons, and their associated simplified models. The results indicated a frequency preference of excitatory cells for their intrinsic activity, while inhibitory cells were more responsive to higher frequencies (&gt; 40 Hz).</dcterms:abstract>
