Naître trop tôt est une épreuve qui peut exposer l’enfant à diverses complications car l’immaturité de ses systèmes biologiques, anatomiques ne lui permettent pas de s'adapter au mieux à son nouvel environnement. Aussi de part sa fragilité et son développement, cet homme en devenir est un individu complexe du point de vue pharmacologique. Ce travail offre des clés pour comprendre les caractéristiques, les complications et enjeux de la prématurité, les différents traitements utilisés afin de garantir une prise en charge optimale en milieu hospitalier ainsi qu’à leur sortie. En effet, le pharmacien d’officine, professionnel de santé de proximité a un rôle fondamental pour répondre aux interrogations et conseiller des parents de manière adaptée à la sortie hospitalière, avoir un rôle de prévention, permettre un bon usage des traitements et de l’alimentation dans cette population fragile. Today, prematurity affects 8% of births in France. Being born too early is an ordeal that can expose the child to a variety of complications, because the immaturity of its biological and anatomical systems means that it cannot adapt as well as possible to its new environment. Because of their fragility and development, these children are complex individuals from a pharmacological point of view. This work provides the keys to understanding the characteristics, complications and challenges of prematurity, as well as the different treatments used, in order to guarantee optimal care in hospital and on discharge. As a local healthcare professional, the dispensing pharmacist has a fundamental role to play in answering parents' questions and providing them with appropriate advice on discharge from hospital, as well as playing a preventive role and ensuring the correct use of treatments and nutrition in this fragile population.
