     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">La valorisation des déchets par digestion anaérobie est encouragée par les politiques de l'UE. Cependant, ce secteur doit être optimisé pour parvenir à une croissance durable. La réduction des pertes azotées pendant le compostage du digestat solide représente un important point d’amélioration due aux impacts environnementaux et la perte de valeur agronomique du produit final. Différentes stratégies ont été étudiées dans la littérature pour minimiser les pertes d'azote pendant le compostage d’autres déchets. Parmi elles, l'amendement avec du biochar a montré des résultats prometteurs. Dans ce contexte, mon travail de thèse propose d'étudier l'utilisation du biochar comme stratégie pour réduire les pertes d'azote pendant le compostage des digestat solides. L’étude de l’action du biochar en utilisant un pilote de dégradation aerobie a montré que l'ampleur de la réduction des émissions azotées par le biochar dépend de ses caractéristiques, notamment son état d’oxydation, ainsi que celles du digestat, notamment sa biodégradabilité. Des efforts ont ensuite été consacrés à comprendre comment le biochar modifie l'évolution du cycle de l'azote. Les résultats suggèrent que le biochar peut contribuer à la réduction des émissions d’ammoniac, augmenter l’immobilisation d’azote et sa nitrification mais aussi les émissions de protoxyde d’azote. Enfin, la dernière partie de ce travail de recherche a montré l’existence d’une corrélation entre la capacité du biochar à absorber l’azote ammoniacal du digestat et la réduction des émissions d’ammoniac pendant le compostage du digestat. </dcterms:abstract>
     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">Waste valorisation by anaerobic digestion is encouraged by EU policies. However, this sector needs to be optimized to achieve sustainable growth. The reduction of nitrogen losses during the composting of the solid digestate represents an important point of improvement due to the environmental impacts and the loss of agronomic value of the final product. Different strategies have been studied in the literature to minimize nitrogen losses during the composting of other organic waste. Among them, the amendment with biochar has shown promising results. In this context, my thesis work aims to study the use of biochar as a strategy to reduce nitrogen losses during the composting of solid digestate. The exploratory study of the action of biochar using an aerobic degradation pilot showed that the extent of the reduction of nitrogenous emissions by biochar depends on its characteristics, in particular its oxidation state, as well as those of the digestate, especially its biodegradability. Efforts were then devoted to understanding how biochar alters the evolution of the nitrogen cycle through the composting process. The results suggest that biochar can contribute to the reduction of ammonia emissions, increase organic nitrogen and oxidized nitrogen as well as nitrous oxide emissions. The last part of this research work showed the existence of the correlation between the ability of biochar to absorb ammoniacal nitrogen from the digestate and the reduction of ammonia emissions during the composting of the digestate.</dcterms:abstract>
