Qu’en est-il de la réciproque ? L’objectif principal de l’étude était d’interroger les patients sur leur ressenti par rapport aux émotions exprimées par leur médecin traitant au cours d’une consultation. Méthode : L’étude, au format qualitatif, a été réalisée auprès de quinze patients volontaires, sous la forme d’entretiens individuels semi-dirigés. Chaque échange a été retranscrit mot à mot et analysé en double codage. Résultats : La définition d’une émotion reste complexe aux yeux des patients. Ils en perçoivent de nombreuses chez leur médecin, positives ou négatives. Leur impact varie selon le motif de la consultation, leur intensité, leur nature et les individus. La gestion des émotions par le soignant semble essentielle, tout en plaçant l’empathie au coeur de la consultation. Différentes solutions suggérées peuvent aider le soignant qui ressent de fortes émotions. Discussion : Les émotions participent à la communication entre deux personnes. Lors d’une consultation médicale, celles du soignant sont liées à la satisfaction, ou non, du patient. L’empathie, permise par les neurones miroirs, semble nécessaire pour l’alliance thérapeutique. Conclusion : La place des émotions en consultation est indiscutable. Que ce soient celles du patient ou celles du soignant, leur perception et leur gestion par le médecin renforcent la relation et la qualité du soin. Introduction : According to several studies, patients' emotions have an impact on the caregiver. What about the other way around ? The main objective of the study was to ask patients about their feelings regarding the emotions conveyed by their general practitioner during a consultation. Method : The study, in a qualitative format, was carried out thanks to fifteen voluntary patients, in the form of individual semi-guided interviews. Each exchange was transcribed word for word and analyzed by double coding. Results : The definition of an emotion is still complex in the eyes of the patients. They sense many emotions in their physician, both positive and negative. Their impact depends on their intensity, their nature, but also on the individuals and the reason why they consult. The way the caregiver manages their emotions seems essential, as well as placing empathy at the heart of the consultation. Various solutions are suggested to help the caregiver who is experiencing strong emotions. Discussion : Emotions are part of the communication between two people. During a medical consultation, the caregiver's emotions are linked to the patient's satisfaction or discontent. Empathy, enabled by mirror neurons, seems necessary for the therapeutic alliance. Conclusion : The place of emotions in consultations is undeniable. Whether they are those of the patient or those of the caregiver, their perception and the way the physician manages them strengthen the relationship and the quality of the care.
