Des études avaient déjà rapporté un taux plus important de manifestations neurologiques chez les patients de réanimation. Nous avons mené une étude rétrospective visant à déterminer l’incidence de l’agitation chez les patients atteints de SARS CoV-2 admis en réanimation au CHU de Rennes et requérant une ventilation mécanique, en comparaison à une population de patients atteints de grippe. Nous avons inclus 146 patients Covid-19 et 94 patients atteints de grippe. Nous avons mis en évidence un taux significativement plus important d’agitation chez les patients Covid-19 (54.8 % vs 33.0%, p value < 0.001). Après un appariement selon un score de propension, l’agitation reste significativement plus élevée chez les patients Covid-19. L’agitation est associée indépendamment à la mortalité après ajustement avec les autres facteurs (HR = 1.85, 95% CI 1.37-2.49, p < 0.001). Among clinical features of SARS-CoV-2 infection, neurological manifestations have been described, such as headache, confusion, or encephalopathy. Several studies had already reported a higher rate of neurological manifestations in the critically ill patients. We conducted a retrospective study to assess the incidence of agitation among patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection admitted in ICU in Rennes University Hospital and requiring mechanical ventilation, in comparison with a population of patients with influenza. We included 146 patients with Covid-19 and 94 patients with influenza. We showed a significantly higher rate of agitation in patients with Covid-19 (54.8% vs 33.0%, p value < 0.01). After propensity score matching, agitation remained significantly higher in Covid-19 patients. Agitation was independently associated with mortality after adjustment for other factors (HR = 1.85, 95% CI 1.37-2.49, p < 0.001).
