Il s’agit d’une pathologie gynécologique multifactorielle qui concerne entre 20 et 50 % des femmes. Ces fibromes, également appelés myomes, surviennent le plus souvent après 30 ans et se développent jusqu’à la ménopause où ils régressent spontanément avec la chute des hormones. Une majorité de fibromes passent inaperçus mais on estime tout de même qu’un tiers d’entre eux sont symptomatiques et les conséquences sur la vie quotidienne sont importantes. En parallèle de la prise en charge classique, il existe dans l’arsenal thérapeutique à disposition du pharmacien des solutions qui peuvent être proposées pour soulager certains symptômes afin d’améliorer la qualité de vie des patientes. Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that grow in the muscle of the uterus. It is a multifactorial gynecological pathology that affects between 20 and 50% of women. These fibroids, also called myomas, most often occur after the age of 30 and develop until menopause where they spontaneously regress with the drop in hormones. A majority of fibroids go unnoticed, but it is still estimated that a third of them are symptomatic and the consequences on daily life are significant. In addition to conventional treatment, there are solutions available to pharmacists in the therapeutic arsenal that can be offered to relieve certain symptoms in order to improve the quality of life of patients.
