Néanmoins, grâce au décret n°2020-1230 du 7 octobre 2020, une expérimentation a été autorisée afin de déterminer si une utilisation du cannabis dans un cadre thérapeutique est possible en France et comment. Seront ainsi étudiées 5 indications : les douleurs neuropathiques réfractaires aux thérapies accessibles, les épilepsies pharmaco- résistantes, les symptômes liés au cancer ou à ses traitements, les situations palliatives et la spasticité douloureuse. Le premier patient a été inclus le 26 mars 2021. Les résultats de cette expérimentation sont attendus dans 2 ans. Pour établir cette étude, le comité scientifique s’est appuyé sur des données de d’autres pays tels que l’Israël, le Canada et les Etats-Unis qui ont autorisé l’usage du cannabis médical. Cannabis, from the plant Cannabis sativa, is not allowed in France even for medical use, as it belongs to illicit drugs. Nevertheless, thanks to the decree n°2020-1230 of 7 October 2020, an experiment has been authorized to determine if and how cannabis can be used in a therapeutic context in France. Five indications will be studied: neuropathic pain refractory to accessible therapies, pharmaco- resistant epilepsy, symptoms linked to cancer or its treatments, palliative situations and painful spasticity. To establish this study, the scientific committee were inspired on data from other countries such as Israel, Canada and the United States which have authorized the use of medical cannabis.
