MATERIEL ET METHODE Sélection des articles par le titre, par le résumé, et par lecture complète. Le niveau de preuve de l’étude, sa date de publication et sa pertinence pour notre sujet étaient les critères principaux de sélection. RESULTATS L’approche comportementale lors de la première consultation n’est pas un sujet abondant dans la littérature scientifique. DISCUSSION Lors de la première consultation, les parents doivent être présents pour un soutien émotionnel de l’enfant et pour donner des informations médicales, familiales, et recevoir des conseils du praticien. La découverte du cabinet par l’enfant peut être source d’anxiété : la mise en place de techniques de gestion du comportement telles que le Tell-Show- Do sont donc nécessaires. CONCLUSION La première consultation est un bilan à part entière, au sein duquel parent et enfant sont impliqués. L’approche comportementale doit être poursuivie lors des rendez-vous de soins et une observance thérapeutique en matière d’hygiène bucco-dentaire et alimentaire doit être obtenue à la maison grâce à l’alliance thérapeutique établie avec les parents. OBJECTIVE The behavioral approach in pediatric dentistry is necessary for the proper conduct of care. The objective of this literature review was to analyze the literature and take stock of the first consultation in pediatric dentistry. MATERIAL AND METHOD The articles were selected according to a precise research protocol: selection by title, then by abstract and finally by full reading. The level of proof of the study, its publication date and its relevance to our subject were the main selection criteria. RESULTS The behavioral approach during the first consultation is not an abundant subject in the scientific literature. DISCUSSION During the first consultation, the parents must be present. On the one hand to provide emotional support to their child and on the other hand to provide medical (medical questionnaire), family (oral hygiene, diet) information and receive advice from the practitioner. The child's discovery of the dental environment can be a source of anxiety, which is why the implementation of behavior management techniques such as Tell-Show-Do are necessary. CONCLUSION The first consultation is a full assessment, in which parent and child are involved. The behavioral approach must be continued during care appointments and therapeutic compliance with oral hygiene and food must be obtained at home thanks to the therapeutic alliance established with the parents.
