En articulant méthodes qualitative (entretiens, corpus documentaire) et quantitative (analyse des réseaux sociaux), elle étudie selon quelles modalités et sous quelles conditions ces organisations parviennent, individuellement et en tant qu'espace, à créer des dynamiques d'autonomisation face aux hétéronomies historiques qui les caractérisent. À travers une approche structurale, elle montre que cet espace éclaté s'organise en deux pôles. Alors que le premier rassemble des organisations qui valorisent des formes d'autonomie vis-à-vis des champs limitrophes (administratif, économique, syndical, scientifique et reste du monde associatif), celles du second pôle revendiquent l'ouverture de l'espace comme moyen d'accomplir leur mission sociale, en l'occurrence accompagner ces champs dans leur transition écologique. Pour l'ensemble des organisations, les relations avec les champs externes sont vectrices d'injonctions qui viennent contraindre leur action, et particulièrement les dynamiques de coopération. Sous certaines conditions, elles parviennent toutefois à se saisir de ces multiples allégeances comme d'une ressource qui vient renforcer leur capacité d'action stratégique. Le croisement de cette pluralité de contraintes et des capacités d'action différenciées des organisations favorisent le maintien d'une diversité des modèles organisationnels. En faisant discuter théorie des champs, analyse structurale et néo-institutionnalisme en sociologie des organisations, ce travail contribue à l’étude des spécificités de l’action collective dans des espaces à l’autonomie faible et variable. This thesis focuses on the social space formed by national environmental associations and foundations. Through a combination of qualitative (interviews, corpus of documents) and quantitative (social network analysis) methods, it studies the modalities and conditions under which these organizations manage, individually and as a space, to create dynamics of autonomization despite the historical heteronomies that characterize them. Using a structural approach, it shows that this fragmented space is organized in two poles. While the first includes organizations that value forms of autonomy towards neighboring fields (administrative, economic, union, academic and the rest of the nonprofit sector), those from the second pole claim the opening of the space as a means of accomplishing their social mission, namely accompanying these fields in their ecological transition. For all organizations, relations with external fields are a vector of injunctions that constrain their actions, particularly the dynamics of cooperation. Under certain conditions, however, they manage to seize these multiple allegiances as a resource that strengthens their capacity for strategic action. The intersection of this plurality of constraints and the differentiated capacities for action of organizations allows maintaining a diversity of organizational models. By discussing field theory, structural analysis and new institutionalism in the sociology of organizations, this work contributes to the study of the specific features of collective action in spaces with weak and variable autonomy.
