C’est le cas pour le vaccin contre la grippe et le pneumocoque. Un protocole de communication entre oncologues, médecins généralistes et patients peut-il influencer le taux de couverture vaccinale? Méthode : Une enquête de prévalence a été réalisée dans un centre d’oncologie avant et après mise en place d’un protocole de communication entre oncologues, médecins généralistes et patients. Résultats : Au total 183 patients ont été interrogés, 91 pour le premier audit et 92 pour le second. Le taux de vaccination contre la grippe a progressé de 25,2% à 44,6% (P = 0,0062), contrairement à celui contre le pneumocoque. La communication à ce sujet avec l’oncologue et le médecin généraliste étaient des facteurs prédictifs de vaccination contre la grippe avec des OR respectifs à 8,1 (95%IC 1,6-41,9, P = 0,0129) et à 8,3 (95%IC 3,5-19,9, P <0,0001). C’est également le cas contre le pneumocoque avec des OR respectifs à 7,45 (95%IC 1,6-34,1, P = 0,0096) et à 11,37 (95%IC 4,6-28,4, P <0,0001). Conclusion : La communication orale des informations aux patients est un facteur prédictif d’une meilleure couverture vaccinale, mais ce n’est pas le cas pour les informations écrites. Introduction : The immunization coverage of oncology patients under chemotherapy is not satisfactory. This is true for the influenza and pneumococcal vaccines. Can a communication protocol between oncologists, general practitioners and patients influence the rate of vaccination coverage? Method : A prevalence survey was conducted in an oncology center, before and after the establishment of a communication protocol between oncologists, general practitioners and patients. Results : A total of 183 patients were interviewed, 91 for the first audit and 92 for the second. The vaccination rate against influenza increased from 25.2% to 44.6%(P = 0.0062). On the contrary, against pneumococcus, this rate did not significantly increase. The discussion about vaccination with both the oncologist and the general practitioner were positive predictive factors for vaccination against influenza with OR 8,1 (95%IC 1,6-41,9, P = 0,0129), 8,3 (95%IC 3,5-19,9, P <0,0001), and pneumococcus with OR 7,45 (95%IC 1,6-34,1, P = 0,0096), 11,37 (95%IC 4,6-28,4, P <0,0001). Conclusion: The patients’ vaccination rate seems to be improved thanks to oral communication but is it not improved by the written information.
